How much are the sessions?

All sessions are between $50 and $200, depending on the clinician’s license and experience, please see the Fees and Insurance Page for more information.


I can’t come in to the office, due to Covid, do you provide online counseling?

Yes we do! We work with HIPAA compliant website to conduct the online counseling. Please hit the Get Started Now button below to request an appointment time that works best for you.

I work crazy hours, what are you appointment times?

I see you have social media, can I follow your social media pages?

Absolutely! You are welcome to like and follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for uplifting and encouraging posts and blogs. 

But Social media of any kind is not secure in terms of privacy and confidentiality. So if you would like to contact the office, you can do so by phone at 832-569-7673 or emailing at restoring@rhchouston.com.

Our policy regarding the use of social media includes the following: We do not provide therapy via social media. We will not acknowledge or return private messages delivered via social media. We will not acknowledge or respond to client emergencies delivered via social media. In emergencies call 911.


What if I am feeling suicidal?

Go to your Local Hospital Emergency Room.

Call 911 and ask to speak to the mental health worker on call.

How many sessions will I need to have?

The number of sessions will depend upon the circumstances that are taking place in your life. Every person’s journey is unique. Some clients may require only a few sessions in order to reach their desired goals, while others may take several months or possibly even longer. You, the client, are in complete control. You may choose to end our professional relationship at any time. When you are ready to terminate therapy, I request that you allow at least one session so we can have closure. I welcome your feedback throughout the course of therapy.


The therapist profiles say LGBTQIA+ affirming, what do you mean by that?

The phrase LGBTQIA+ affirming is in reference to our stance as a counseling practice that all are welcome, wanted, and cared for here. There is no person who would not be welcome to seek therapy with our practice because of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other “status” that would fall under this umbrella. 


I was paired with a therapist, but after a couple of sessions I don’t think they are a good fit for me. What can I do in this situation?

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the practice owner at restoring@rhchouston.com to discuss your concerns. We will help you get set up with the therapist that fits you better.


How do you handle payment?

Payment is due at time of service provided. All clients are required to have a credit card on file for processing payment. You will be charged at the end of each session via the credit card on file.


What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

You can reschedule or cancel your session by logging in to the client portal.

If you are going to cancel or reschedule, please do so more than 24 hours in advance. There will be a $25 charge for no show’s and cancellation within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment.


I can’t afford the counseling fee and I don’t have insurance, do you offer a sliding scale?

We offer a reduced fee for services with our Practicum Students at $50 a session and our LPC-Associate’s at $100 a session. Please see the Fees and Insurance Page for more information.

We offer reduced fees for members of Open Path Collective. Please visit their website for more information.


I scheduled an appointment online, but I can’t tell if it was confirmed or not.

Awesome! Thank you so much for scheduling an appointment on through the client portal. When an appointment is requested, you will get an email back with it either being accepted, or declined.

If it is accepted, you will get an email confirming the appointment, with a link to the client portal to set up an account and complete paperwork. It is very important that you complete the paperwork sent to you 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. This paperwork helps us to be prepared for the session and verify any insurance you have to confirm we are in network with your plan. We will inform you at the appointment what the copay or deductible will be. If you have questions about that, you can call the office at 832-569-7673 or email the office at restoring@rhchouston.com.

The only reason an appointment is declined, would be due to a scheduling issue, if that is the case, we apologize for the inconvenience, but please go in and request an additional an appointment.


I tried to call the office, but didn’t get an answer. What is the best way to reach you?

Please call Monday-Thursday between 9 and 2 and someone should be able to assist you. If you call and no one answers, please leave a message on the confidential voicemail and we will get back to you within 24 hours. If you are trying to schedule an appointment, you can do that faster by going to the Get Started Now button and schedule through the secure client portal.

I’m not sure if therapy is right for me, how do I know it will help?

There is a stigma about what it means to talk to a therapist. You may feel as though there is something wrong with you. Or people will think less of you for going to therapy. But in reality we ALL need therapy. There is nothing wrong or weak with sharing your feelings with an outside person who can help you navigate those emotions.

Therapy is simply talking and exploring your thoughts and feelings about your situation. Talking to a therapist is about opening up about what is going on in your life, letting an outside person come in and offer another perspective.

Therapy has many benefits, however the process may also bring a level of discomfort in order to reach those benefits. Since therapy involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness.

On the other hand, therapy often leads to improved relationships, solutions to problems, and reductions in feelings of distress. There are, however, no guarantees as each situation is different. Some goals may be reached in a session or two, while others may require ongoing commitment to the therapeutic process. It is important that you discuss any questions, concerns, or discomfort you are having regarding the therapeutic process.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, depending on the therapist. Please be aware that in order to bill your insurance you will need to be given a diagnosis. Your therapist will go over that with you at the first session. If you are not comfortable with that, you can elect to not use your insurance and pay the full fee per session. 

We are able to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Superior Health Plan, United Healthcare  and Aetna. Please provide your insurance information when you schedule your first appointment, or go to the services page to request confirmation of insurance.

If we are not in network with your insurance provider, you will be responsible for the full fee per session. You will be provided with a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance provider for possible out of network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider prior to receiving services to see if this is an option for you. Please let me know at the time of service if you need me to provide an insurance receipt.

We are in the process of credentialing each of our therapists, and that can be an extensive process. We will let you know if your therapist is in network before the first session.


Can I use my insurance for couples counseling?

Couples counseling is not always covered by insurance and you could be charged the full fee per session if it is not covered.

I need therapy for my child, do you see children?

Yes! We have a Play Therapist on staff who sees kids as young a 3 years old. Please check out the Play Therapy page to get more information.

We have multiple therapists who see teens as well.


Do I need to attend the sessions with my child?

Yes. All minor children will need to have a parent present on site for the session. The parent/guardian of a minor child will be asked to sit in on the intake session for the first 15-20 minutes to go over consents, as well as to discuss the client history and background. The minor client may be asked to step out in to the waiting area during this time, while the therapist meets privately with the parent/guardian. If there are any children younger than 8 years old, please bring another responsible person with you to sit with your child in the waiting area during the parent only portion of the intake session.

Your child’s therapist will typically check in with you every couple of sessions to discuss client’s progress.


My teen is coming to therapy online, do I need to be in the session?

Only for the initial session. The parent/guardian of a minor teen will be asked to sit in on the intake session for the first 15-20 minutes to go over consents, as well as to discuss the client history and background.

Your teen’s therapist will typically check in with you every couple of sessions to discuss your teen’s progress.


My teen can drive, do I need to come to the session with them?

Only for the initial session. The parent/guardian of a minor teen will be asked to sit in on the intake session for the first 15-20 minutes to go over consents, as well as to discuss the client history and background. You are not expected to come or bring your teen to every session. We just ask that you keep in touch with your teen’s therapist to discuss any issues or concerns that you have.
