We operate two convenient Houston locations:
Champions/North Houston Office (Main Location) 5206 FM 1960 Rd. W., Suite 103, Houston, TX 77069
Montrose Office 2028 Buffalo Terrace, Suite 8, Houston, TX 77019
Both offices serve the greater Houston area including Spring, The Woodlands, Memorial, Heights, Midtown, and surrounding communities. We also offer online therapy for clients throughout Texas.
-
Your first session (intake appointment) is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other and discuss what brought you to therapy. Your therapist will ask about your current concerns, relevant history, and goals for therapy. This is also your chance to ask questions, share what you're hoping to gain from counseling, and determine if the therapist feels like a good fit. Sessions last between 50-55 minutes.
After the intake, your therapist will recommend a treatment approach and discuss how often to meet.
-
Yes, we provide HIPAA-compliant online therapy sessions for clients throughout Texas. Our secure telehealth platform allows you to attend therapy from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or any private location with internet access. Online therapy is available for individuals, couples, and teens.
Research shows that online therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy for most mental health concerns. You can also combine both options - attending some sessions in-person at our Houston locations and others online based on your preferences.

Yes, we provide therapy for children as young as 2 years old through older adults.
We have two certified Play Therapists on staff who work with children ages 2-12, and therapists who specialize in adolescent counseling for teens.
Our therapists use age-appropriate approaches including play therapy for young children, specialized teen counseling techniques, and parent coaching to help families support their children's mental health.
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD.
During EMDR sessions, your Houston therapist guides you to recall traumatic memories while using bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements). This process helps your brain reprocess the traumatic memory, reducing its emotional intensity and allowing natural healing to occur. EMDR often produces results faster than traditional talk therapy, with many clients experiencing significant relief in 8-12 sessions. You don't need to discuss your trauma in extensive detail for EMDR to be effective.
-
Yes, all therapists at Restoring Hope Counseling practice from an LGBTQIA+ affirming stance. This means we respect and validate all sexual orientations and gender identities, provide therapy that affirms rather than attempts to change your identity, understand unique challenges LGBTQ+ individuals face, and create a safe, judgment-free therapeutic environment. Several of our Houston therapists have specialized training and experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, couples, and families.
Costs, Fees & Insurance
-
Therapy sessions range from $65 to $200 per session, depending on the clinician's credentials and experience.
Graduate Student Interns offer the most affordable option at $65 per individual session, LPC-Associates charge $140 per individual session, and fully licensed LPCs range from $175-$200 based on their specialization. Couples sessions range from $90-$200.
This tiered approach allows us to offer therapy at various price points to accommodate different budgets while maintaining high clinical standards.
-
Yes, we accept several major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Lyra Health.
Insurance acceptance varies by individual therapist - some of our fully licensed therapists are in-network providers, while Graduate Student Interns cannot accept insurance but offer reduced self-pay rates.
When you schedule your first appointment, provide your insurance information so we can verify coverage and inform you of applicable copays or deductibles.
-
If we're not in-network with your insurance or you don't have insurance, you can pay the full session fee out-of-pocket. For out-of-network situations, we'll provide a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
We also offer reduced-fee therapy through our Graduate Student Interns ($65/session) and LPC-Associates ($140/session).
A limited number of additional reduced-fee slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis for those with financial need. Clients can request to apply for a reduced fee slot after the intake session.
-
We require 48 hours advance notice for cancellations or rescheduling (Monday appointments must be cancelled by Friday at noon).
Late cancellations incur a $75 fee for LPC/LPC-Associates or $50 for Intern sessions; no-shows are $100 for LPC/LPC-Associates or $50 for Intern sessions, charged automatically to your card on file.
If you're sick, you can convert your in-person session to virtual at no charge to avoid cancellation fees. You can cancel or reschedule through your secure client portal.
Therapy Process & Effectiveness
-
Therapy duration varies based on individual circumstances, presenting concerns, and personal goals. Some clients achieve their objectives in 6-8 sessions of focused, short-term therapy.
Others dealing with complex issues like trauma, long-standing depression, or relationship challenges may benefit from several months of treatment.
Your Restoring Hope Counseling therapist will provide an estimated treatment timeline and regularly assess your progress. You're in control of when to end therapy - we just ask for at least one closure session.
-
Yes, everything discussed in therapy is strictly confidential and protected by federal and state laws.
Your Houston therapist cannot share information about you without your written permission, with limited legal exceptions: if there's an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order requiring disclosure.
Your therapist will review confidentiality limits during your first session. For minors, parents have access to general progress information while respecting the teen's privacy.
-
You'll know therapy is working when you notice positive changes including: better ability to manage difficult emotions, improved relationships with loved ones, new coping strategies for stressful situations, reduced frequency or intensity of symptoms like anxiety or depression, increased self-awareness, greater confidence in handling challenges, and movement toward your personal goals. Your Restoring Hope Counseling therapist will regularly check in about your progress and adjust the approach as needed.
-
The therapeutic relationship is crucial for effective treatment. If after a few sessions you don't feel the connection is right, please contact our Intake Coordinator at restoring@rhchouston.com. We'll help you transition to a different Restoring Hope Counseling therapist who may be a better match for your personality, needs, or preferences. If we can’t find a therapist at Restoring Hope then we will do our best to find a great local therapist to refer you to.
Finding the right fit is normal and we want to ensure you receive the best possible care.
-
You may benefit from therapy if you're experiencing persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, excessive worry that's difficult to control, sleep or appetite changes, low energy, difficulty concentrating, feelings of worthlessness, panic attacks, or if these feelings are interfering with your daily life, work, or relationships.
Our Restoring Hope therapists in Houston specialize in treating anxiety and depression using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and other proven methods.
-

Our Restoring Hope couples therapists help partners improve communication, resolve conflicts, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection, and work through challenges like infidelity, parenting disagreements, or feeling disconnected.
Couples therapy is often not covered by insurance, with fees ranging from $90-$200 per session depending on the therapist.

For children, a parent must be present on-site during sessions. Parents participate in the first 15-20 minutes of the initial intake session, then children typically meet privately with the therapist.
For teens, parents are required for the initial intake (first 15-20 minutes), but teens usually attend subsequent sessions independently.
Your child's or teen's therapist will schedule a Parent Check In session periodically to check in with parents to discuss progress while respecting confidentiality.
